Scottish Championship Car Racing (SMRC)
Sunday 10th September, 2017
Race 1 Heavy rain hit hard on Sunday and I couldn’t wait to get out on track. I lined up in fourth for the first race of the day after a very tight qualifying session. I felt confident for what the race could bring, but a lack of grip at the start meant I was not able to make up any places when the lights went out. I was repeatedly the quickest driver and this showed in my lap times however a failed move at the hair-pin allowed the car ahead to build up a gap on me.
The top four (including me) were all showing similar times so it was hard to close the gap. With all the positions settled I used the rest of the race to try different lines trying to find an advantage for the second race. This allowed me to give valuable information to my team informing my set-up for the second race.
Race 2 Again I lined up in fourth and this time was able to make a better start however grip continued to be an issue in the rain. The new set-up improved the car and although I was able to make some good moves on P3 they were to no avail. Positions were held at the top in the second half of the race and I crossed the line in fourth collecting valuable points.
I would like to thank my team Graham Brunton Racing and Gavin Ray (race car manufacturer, who kindly drove up from Croydon to support the team) for all their hard work. I would also like to thank my partners from Edinburgh Watch Company, who came to support me at my race.
Sebastian finished second in the championship –view the table here.
Thanks to my partners: Dem-Master, JH Civil Engineering, Scotwaste, Premier Commercial, UKCM, Claim-Eazy, Johnston Oil, Murrayfield & Co. and would like to announce and welcome my new partner, Lourmarin London.
