Seb is a professional racing driver who started his career at the age of 16 racing in the Scottish Formula Ford Championship. Seb fell in love with the sport from a very young age, looking up to his godfather, Dario Franchitti, who is the 4x Indycar Champion and 3x Indy500 winner. Seb’s first taste of racing was at the 2007 Indycar race in Chicagoland Speedway (Chicago) where he watched his godfather win his first Indycar Championship.
Since then, Seb was obsessed with racing but was never fortunate enough to be able to go karting which is a traditional steppingstone for young aspiring racing drivers to work their way up from. Seb’s dreams of being a racing driver grew thin the older he got as most kids start around 4 years old. His aspirations to be involved in motorsport were to strong, he looked at a different route and took an interest to Engineering while he was at school in Edinburgh’s Stewart’s Melville College.
His grandfather took him to the Le Mans 24hr race in 2012 and surprised him with access to the Aston Martin Racing Team where he was shown around the garage and engineers to give him experience on what it’s like to become an engineer in motorsport.
2014, Seb got the opportunity to test a Formula Ford 1600 at Knockhill Racing Circuit with Graham Brunton Racing. The team were very impressed with Seb’s ability and willingness to learn, they offered him the opportunity to race with them for that season.
Seb’s dreams finally began reigniting, and 2 years after his very first race, he got his 1st podium finish and from then on managed 13 consecutive podiums in the Scottish Championship. The year after that, he managed his first win in the Scottish Championship and took his career down south and became the Champion of Brands Hatch (England, Kent).
Seb’s hobby quickly turned into a career and in 2019, made the step-up to become a professional racing driver in a works BMW for Walkenhorst Motorsport in the ‘Purple-Dot’ M240i GT in the VLN Endurance series in Germany. This season Seb will be racing at Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, also known as ‘The Green Hell’.
